Unknown, foreign, different. These are some of humanity's biggest fears. These are why wars are fought and enemies are made. Because it's easier and safer to fear what you don't know than to try and stop and understand it. Knowing this, it makes it easy to understand the chaos following the discovery of the supernatural during the 1980's. Tired of living in hiding and being ashamed of who they are, the children of the unknown banded together and announced themselves to the world. They were not, however, met with the open arms that they were hoping for and expecting. Many nations banned them outright, pushing them outside of their borders for the rest of the world to deal with. Those who did accept them did their utmost to keep the the mundane and the magical separate. Supernatural beings were forced to live in special, designated areas. For 'safety' reasons, they were not allowed in cities or mundane schools. Businesses that hired these new beings were often boycotted and closed down. Those who could pass as human tried to slink back into hiding, despite the threat of being caught and thrown into prison. Despite the laws against it, authorities turned a willing blind eye to the slaughtering of these creatures, particularly those viewed as most dangerous. Whole packs of werewolves were hunted like common game animals and covens of witches were slaughtered in their sleep. On top of it all, whisperings spoke of plan to limit the number of children they were allowed to have and harsher penalties in place for those who turned humans, whether the victim was willing or not ...
