Powers: Through years of martial arts and spiritual training Luna is able to send out her Wolf spirit to attack her foes. She is also able by tapping into the deepest connection of her animal spirit to turn into a were-wolf type creature. She is only able to keep this form for about 20 minutes however or she will lose control. As for her animal spirit specific ability Luna's reflexes both in and out of battle are heightened to a degree that if she knows an attack is coming she can intercept it with a couple seconds as well as remain balanced on most surfaces and heights.
Personality: The first thing anyone at the Pai Zhua would tell you about Luna Howlett is that it seems to have a lot to prove and on that point they would absolutely correct. Luna was the second born and was second to enter the acadamy after her brother had already made a name for himself as one of it's most promising young students and the rare holder of the Rhino spirit. After a young childhood of always feeling bested by her older brother Lucas at everything they did together Luna has developed quite the inferiority complex and a chip on her shoulder. This however has led to one of her best qualities that being her uniqueness. While her brother had the raw strength and talent of the Rhino spirit she developed the creative,unique and graceful spirit of the wolf. It also led to a very determained streak to prove that she could be just as good as her brother which led her to also learn the Tiger and Jaguar technique and gain the rare ability to summon three spirits instead of just the one.
This determinatiion also led to one of her biggest weaknesses which is her head strong nature. If her brother is around or is on her way she'll often try and take on an entire hoard of enemies just to show that she doesn't need his help. That isn't to say she doesn't love her brother. She loves him with every fiber of her being she just doesn't want to spend her life in his shadow and because of this even though she is young she often ignores or tries to brush off childish or "fun" activities in sake of ones that will better herself. Due to this she isn't very socially developed in the ways of the outside world and has trouble making friends especially girls she finds cute. She does have activities that she does consider fun as well as constructive such as a fondness for cooking, soccer and painting. Things she dislikes are things such as feeling weak,her brother one upping her, embarrassing herself in a social setting or messing up an activity.
The one person besides her training masters and her brother she is quite fond of is her best friend and bat spirit master the blind Quinn Alexis Kwan. Despite the fact that Quinn doesn't need anyone to come to her aid Luna can't help herself but to do so because of the deep connection that the two share. Luna secretly wishes that the two Pai Zuaq masters could one day be more then friends and team mates.
History: Luna was born as the second pup of 4 years of Tyler Howlett and Casandra Howlett. Her parent's had a child four years before her which they named Lucas. Growing up as the second born to Lucas was..difficult to say the least. Not because their parents seemed to love him more or anything but because it always seemed at least to her young child mind that he was better at everything then her and that he could do anything effortlessly which just made the young girl feel like a lesser person compared to him. Sure her brother would invite her as she got a little older to hang out with him and his friends to play sports or the like but even then she always felt as if she was lagging behind and always would be. This fact wasn't helped by the fact that when she turned six and her brother turned 10 a representative from the Pai zhuq academy who had been watching Lucas invited him to join the school to learn the way of the order of the claw and not her.
Over the next four years even though her brother would come home for holidays and birthdays a bit of resentment toward Lucas began to grow inside of Luna to the point where when her brother went out with their parents to celebrate him being home every time he came home she would fake sick or say she had homework to do so that she could stay home,go through her brothers belongings and read the notes and lessons he had brought with him so that she could try and learn what he had learned about animal spirits and what kind of spirit she had while also trying out different styles to see what fit. Luna wouldn't hit a breakthrough in her secret studies until she herself turned 10 and her brother fourteen.
While out with her parents a mugger tried to rob her parents while a Pai Zhuq representative watching from atop a close by building. What was actually happening was a test to see like her brother if she was worthy to join the academy since even though Luna didn't know it her secret studies had been reported by her brother which intrigued the heads of the academy and so they staged the mugging to see how strong Luna's spirit had become due to her determination of being better then her brother or at least as good as him. As the mugger approached her and her parents Luna thought about how she had begun to read and study the Wolf spirit fighting style. These studies were finally full filled when Luna closed her eyes and focused on her inner self, her spirit,her connection to her brother and her determination which caused her spirit to visually grow in a purple aura. She then built up the spirit and called out the words that would change her life forever.
"Release the beast inside! Spirit of the wolf!"
Luna then launched her spirit forward causing it to take the shape of a large purple wolf which swiped the mugger away before quickly fading away and Luna falling to her knees exhausted. As Luna's parents helped her up the representative that had been watching leaped down in front of them with a happy smile on her face while wearing blue robes with a patch with the head of a gazelle on it on her chest. The woman explained to Luna that her secret studying had been reported by her brother to the school because he was asked to do so so that they could see how willing and dedicated the young girl was to mastering her rather rare animal spirit. The woman said that once Luna was packed and ready to go she would escort her to the academy to join her brother but under her instead of her brothers master so that she wouldn't be driven by her desire to surpass him. Her training to be a Pai zhuq master had finally begun.
When Luna had arrived at camp she quickly found out that her brother over the four years he had been at the academy her brother Lucas had become rather well liked and extremely talented while she herself had trouble maintaining her wolf spirit. The woman who had brought her to the school revealed her name which was Master Gale Zelle and that like other masters before her she had mastered more then one style and that her secondary style was the Wolf spirit style. She then explained that there had only been one other Wolf Pai Zuaq master by the name of R.J. or Robert James who also had mastered the Jaguar style and the Tiger style and could split his wolf spirit into three and that he was part of the Pai Zuaq academy's only team of Power Rangers known as the Jungle Fury rangers. To finish motivating her student Gale Zelle not only showed Luna recordings of the Wolf ranger in action even showing him summoning his own megazord known as the "Wolf Pride Megazord" which was a combination of the wolf spirit,tiger spirit and the Jaguar spirit.
Seeing her predecessor in action as well as knowing that her brother would be next in line to become the Jungle Fury's Rhino ranger Luna decided to dedicate the next four years of her life to not only mastering her wolf spirit style but also going to the schools Jaguar Master and Tiger Master to learn those styles as well. The downside to her dedication however was that her goals began to give her tunnel vision which robbed her of many opportunities to learn how to make friends at the school or in Ocean Bluff when she and her brother went home. The only activities she would participate in as fun as fun went were things she could use to better herself like painting,cooking and her favorite sport of soccer since it helped her train her wolf style.
Over these next four years Luna met and befriended a blind bat spirit student named Quinn Alexis Kwan and the two became fast friends. At first Luna's instincts told her to help out Quinn all she could due to her disability but it soon became apparent over those four years that Quinn's training in the bat style had heightened her reflexes and other senses as well as given her the ability to float. It also became clear to Luna that she had deeper feelings for Quinn that she would choose to keep secret at least for now so that they could both focus on their studies.
When she turned turned 14 and her brother 18 Luna's worst fears were realized when Lucas was given not only the Rhino Ranger morpher but the Rhino control dagger and a map to the legendary Rhino Nexus where the Rhino Zord rested after being tested for the mark of mastery which he of course passed with flying colors. This meant that for the next four years she and her brother wouldn't see each other and that he was being given even more intense training to do. This however only intensified Luna's resolve to the point where for the four years her and her brother were apart in their training Luna would take on large groups of students using not only her wolf spirit but duplicates of the Tiger and Jaguar spirits formed from her own spirit to fend them off. This impressed her three masters so much that when Luna turned 18 and news came from a place called the Time Force that the legendary Dai shi had been revived that she was put up for the mark of mastery herself by facing not just her wolf master but also her Tiger and Jaguar masters as well.
Once the hard fought battle was finished by Luna summoning all three of her spirits at once and defeating her masters not only was she given the mark of the order of the claw like her brother before her but also the Wolf Ranger morpher and was told to head back to Ocean Bluff to a place called Jungle Karma Pizza that the Previous Wolf ranger had built as a base of operations for the Jungle Fury team in Ocean Bluff and that her brother would be contacted at the Nexus to join her. Unable to bare being apart from Quinn now that they were both masters in their animal disciplines Luna invited Quinn to come with her to Ocean Bluff to work at the pizza joint with her as a chef using her enhanced senses and reflexes to help her make pizzas.
Once Quinn agreed both masters headed off to set up shop,defend Ocean Bluff and wait for Lucas to return from his training at the Rhino Nexus so that Luna's new rag tag family would be once again whole.
