Personality: Artemis is a loner, who is intelligent, honest, kind and independent. Due to growing up at the Sanctuary she became independent early on, taking care of the animals and herself. She also showed how intelligent she was, by picking up on things that she was taught and she self-learned. Artemis would spend most of her time with the animals at the Sanctuary, taking care of them and just being near them in general. If she didn’t have to interact with people she would not do so. It’s not that she was mean but she didn’t like when she would start a friendship with someone she knew when they were not being honest with themselves and she didn’t want them to be dishonest with her. If her grandfather asked her about her day or how she was feeling she would be honest with him.
She was kind to those in need and would try to help as much as she could. Artemis maintained a high GPA grade through her school years, she wanted to be able to help with the Sanctuary in a better capacity than just helping take care of the animals. By having a high GPA she would have better chances of getting a job that would help support the Sanctuary. She was independent and acted as if she lived alone, even though she lived with her grandfather. Waking up herself, making food and every other thing an individual would do themselves. She did not like feeling as if she were a burden to those around her.
History: Artemis Winter Baliton was born on January, 04, 2015 at 11:53 pm to Shelia and Robert Jones. Shelia is the daughter of Merrick Baliton and married Robert Jones. The night that Artemis was born, her mother died during childbirth. Her father Robert couldn’t deal with a newborn on his own and he was upset that his wife passed as well. So he left his daughter in the care of Shelia’s father Merrick Baliton. He gave all rights to Artemis over to her grandfather.
So began Artemis’ life on the Sanctuary that her grandfather started in the woods of Turtle Grove. The sanctuary took in all types of animals to help them rehabilitate and hopefully get them back their natural habitats. There were some animals that stayed liked the wolves in the wolf den and the deer. The Sanctuary was ran by her grandfather and his friend Zen-Aku (he was still atoning for his past mistakes). Merrick explained that he and Zen-Aku were friends and that they work the Sanctuary together.
Being around both her grandfather and Zen-Aku had different effects on Artemis, on one hand she learned to play the flute, hand to hand combat, swordsmanship and how to shoot. She also had a great affinity in being able to communicate with animals. Then she also gained her personality from both Merrick and Zen-Aku as well. They were loners or like Zen-Aku liked to be called a lone wolf. She started to make sure that she was not a burden on her grandfather, she was intelligent and independent for the most part. She was also protective of the animals in the Sanctuary, her grandfather and Zen-Aku, they were her family. She would listen as they reminisced about the past and what they could have done differently. Her grandfather taught her a song that he used to play every morning, he never went into detail about where he learned the song but said that he would like her to learn it. And so she did and she would either sing or play her flute while walking or doing chores around the Sanctuary.
When it came to school and spending time with the other children her age, Artemis found it hard to actually interact with the others. They weren't unkind to her but she would know when they lied about something and she called them out on it. She was honest to a fault and didn't like people lying to her or around her. The teachers had suggested home school due to her being uncomfortable around others but her grandfather wanted her to make friends and said no. Her friends were the animals and she learned to tolerate the humans in her class.
Her freshman year of high school she got a tattoo on her left ankle/leg, the tattoo had three wolves howling at the moon; each wolf represented, Merrick, Zen-Aku and herself. Artemis tried to make friends but it was hard to find those who were interested in the same things as her. She did join the Band to get better at the flute, she did make some friends but not ones that she would keep after Band was over.
On the morning of her Sixteenth birthday, Artemis found three crystals that had animals inside of them. The blue crystal had a wolf, the purple had a hammerhead shark and the green had an alligator. She placed them in her pocket. She was going to meet her father for the first time in years after school. He had remarried and had other children and he wanted them to get along. She wore a dark grey sweater, black jeans that had rips down the legs. Dark grey buckle boots and a blue black crystal that hung around her neck. Her backpack was custom made for her, it was black and had a wolf howling at the moon. It was a gift from her grandfather. The meeting with her father didn’t go well, first he and his new family were late in meeting and they lied to her about the reason why. Also they were too different and he wanted to her to leave the sanctuary and move into his place and get to know his new family.
Artemis looked at her watch and noticed that it was 10 at night, she needed to get back to the Sanctuary and spend her birthday with her grandfather and Zen-Aku. She was running through the forest to her home when she had a feeling that something bad was going to happen. When she reached the clearing she saw her grandfather and Zen-Aku fighting and there was a shadow of someone behind Zen-Aku. She looked around and found one of the training swords and picked it up and jumping in to help her grandfather by blocking a downward strike from Zen-Aku. “Why are you doing this? Grandfather said that you were a friend?” The shadow started laughing, “You are Naive girl, I am the Master Org and he serves me. Destroy her Zen-Aku!” When Zen-Aku went to do his attack, her grandfather placed himself between her and the attack. "Cresent Blade! Cresent Wave!" Her grandfather took the brunt of the attack and did not get back up. She saw that he wasn’t breathing “Hahahahahaha… foolish human, you think you can protect her from us. Hahahahahah… finish this so we can leave.” As Zen-Aku was preparing his second attack the Crystals in Artemis’s pocket began to glow and circle her left wrist, giving her the Lunar Caller. She grabbed the caller and opened it hitting the button, “Wild Access” she morphed into the Lunar Wolf Ranger. “Howling Wolf”, She was getting ready to defend herself and her grandfather when suddenly there were a bunch of people surrounding Zen-Aku and the shadow now, known as the Master Org, but before they could apprehend the Master Org or Zen-Aku they disappeared.
“Who are you people and what are you doing here?” She was told that they were Time Force Agents and that the Master Org's shadow that was here was from the future, he was looking for Zen-Aku who once his powers were restored by the Master Org would once again be a powerful Duke Org and be evil and serve the Master Org. The Time Force Agents were sent back to prevent that from happening, but they were to late. Artemis went into the house and saw that there were two gifts on the table, but she couldn't bring herself to open them. She placed them into her backpack, placing it on her back and walking back outside to where her grandfather was. When she turned him over, giving him a hug for the last time, they were transported to the Animarium by Princess Shayla. Artemis looked around and didn't know where she was but it was beautiful and peaceful. "Why are we here?"
"Welcome to the Animarium, I am Princess Shayla, I am sorry for your loss. Merrick was a dear friend and Guardian, he will be missed. And to answer your question, Merrick was one of my Guardians and so his final resting place is here on the Animarium. You are here because you are the Lunar Wolf Ranger. But your powers are not needed in this time but will be needed in a thousand years, when all the Evil Monarchs will be resurrected to destroy the earth. After Merrick is laid to rest the Powers of the Zords and I must go back into deep sleep until we are needed again." Artemis thought about what Princess Shayla was saying, there was nothing left for her in this time, but there was something that she could do to help the future. "I volunteer to go into deep sleep as well. I wish to help." After Merrick was laid to rest Princess Shayla placed Artemis in a deep sleep in the Wolf Wildzord's den. Then Princess Shayla and the other Wildzords went back into a deep sleep.
